Kodiak

Hello Kodiak Families,

We are prepared and excited to see kids in our classrooms! With the opening dates just around the corner, I want to pass on a few more pieces of information and give a few reminders for our Hybrid model of school.

First- just a reminder that masks and social distancing will be required at school. If you need a mask for your child, no problem, we have plenty! Social distancing also means that each kid will need their own set of supplies. Check with your child's teacher if you are unsure of what they need. We do have supplies available for kids if anyone needs them.

Second- complete the health screening at home before your child comes to school! It will delay your child getting in to their classroom to learn if they were not screened, so please remember to do that each day. This is an important safety measure for the community, don't send your kids to school if they are sick! The screening will be recorded in our Skyward System, please contact the office if you need assistance logging in.

Third- pack a snack and dress for the weather! We will be going outside each day for a snack and for a chance to take a 'mask break' with kids very far apart and able to breathe some fresh air. We also have recess outside (with masks on) so please dress appropriately for some time outside.

Last- if you are driving your child to school, please pull up to the designated drop site, past the entrance to our school. It will be clearly marked, WPSIS students need to enter in the WPSIS doors, not the HMS entrance. The best drop off time for 4th grade is 7:45, .5th grade 7:55, 6th grade is 8:05 to help stagger the traffic. No one will be allowed in the building before 7:45. If you have kids in more than one grade you can send them in all at the same time, aim for the time for the youngest child. Please park in the lot to pick up your kids, all will be coming out between 12:25 and 12:35.

Remember- Mountain Kodiaks Monday and Tuesday, Forest Kodiaks Wednesday and Thursday, Fridays are distance learning for all. Days your child is not in school they will have Distance Learning activities to complete at home.

4th Grade begins on the week of February 1st. 5thand 6th grade begin on the week of February 8th.

President's Day, week of February 15th:

Mon./ Tues.- no school             Wednesday-Mountain           Thursday-Forest           Friday- All Online

Thank you for your patience as we safely reopen our schools. The safety of our community has always been our priority, and we are very grateful for the help and support you have given to your child's learning while we were unable to work with them in person. We are looking forward to seeing our Kodiak students soon!

Stay safe, wear a mask, go Kodiaks!

Sincerely,

Brian Fraser
