Update

Hello WSVSD Families

Dr. Amy Person, Health Officer, Klickitat County Public Health shared in a letter that COVID-19 disease activity in Klickitat County has dropped to moderate levels as defined in the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) “Tools to Prepare for Provision of In-Person Learning among K-12 Students at Public and Private Schools during the COVID-19 Pandemic”.

Dr. Person recommends that the White Salmon Valley School District begin in-person learning starting with our elementary age students.  The district will follow the schedule below, previously approved by our school board.

Feb. 1 - K, 1 & 4
Feb. 8 - 2, 3, 5 & 6
Feb. 17 - 7 & 8
* High School: To be Announced when the state guidelines are met*

* Please note that Feb. 17 will be an A Cohort Day and Feb. 18 will be a B Cohort Day due to Presidents’ Day.  We will resume the AA, BB schedule February 22.

* As COVID rates drop in Klickitat County below 200 cases per 100,000, we will start the transition of our high school students for in-person learning.

Building principals are sending letters out to families as we begin this phase in process. Please contact your school with any questions you may have. We also understand that not all families will feel comfortable beginning in-person learning, so we will still offer a remote option. The district is continuing our planning for a shortened sports season that will start February 1st.

We are excited to be able to open our schools to more students to better support their educational needs. We remain committed to returning students and staff safely to our school buildings as we follow all of the state guidelines. Thank you for your continued support of your children and WSVSD schools.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jerry Lewis, Superintendent
