Hello WSVSD Families,

Districts in the State of Washington recently received new reopening guidance for in-person learning. The new guidance and recommendations from our local health department allow us to bring students back into an in-person learning model, once our per thousand rate is at 350 or below for a period of two weeks. The district will start with the following schedule when we are allowed to start:

  • Week 1: Grades K-1 at WES and Grade 4 at WPSIS
  • Week 2: Grades 2-3 at WES and Grades 5-6 at WPSIS
  • Week 3: Grades 7-8 at HMS

The district will bring back high school students for in-person learning as soon as the per thousand rate is at 200 or below. The district will hold a special board meeting next week on Monday, January 11th at 6:00 PM to approve an updated reopening plan. The first week of in-person learning could begin as early as January 25 if we are meeting the state and health department guidelines.

We remain committed to returning students and staff safely to our school buildings as quickly and appropriately as possible. More information will be shared after the special board meeting. Thank you for your continued support of your children and WSVSD schools.

Dr. Jerry Lewis, Superintendent
