Family Update:
Our superintendent, Dr. Lewis, has several meetings this week at both the state and local level to gather more guidance on the district's reopening plan. Our administrative team is meeting tomorrow and will be sending out communication at the district level by Friday afternoon.
Reminder: student meals for January 4-7 will be available for pick up only, tomorrow, January 4th at the kitchen from 6:00 am - 10:00 am.
Have a safe winter vacation! We will return to Distance Learning January 4th.

We wanted to update our K-6 families as we finalize the Reopening Hybrid Plan. In order to balance our in-person and remote learning for teachers and students, the district is looking to start with a shortened in-person day from 8:15-12:30.

Daily bus route meal deliveries started this week.
If you have questions on bus stop times or locations, please call the transportation center at 509-493-1590 from 8:30 am- 10:30 am.
Meals are also available for pick up at the Henkle Middle School Kitchen from 6:00 am - 10:00 am daily.
Dear White Salmon Families,
We hope this letter finds you well. Over the past few weeks, we have worked closely with the local health department and regional superintendents to develop a plan to bring small groups of students on campus. Our district staff has identified and prioritized the students with the highest need from our most vulnerable and sensitive groups. There are specific health guidelines in place we will follow to provide safety for students and staff. Lastly, we are working towards bringing back K-6 students into a hybrid model with board approval when state and local health department measures are met.

Student Meals Update:
Student meals will be available for pickup at the Henkle Middle School Kitchen, from 6:00 AM -10:00 AM tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16th.
Each student will receive breakfast and lunch for Wednesday the 16th, Thursday the 17th, and Friday the 18th.
Daily meal delivery by bus route is scheduled to start Monday, September 21st. Daily in-person pickup will be available at the Henkle Kitchen, in addition to bus route delivery, beginning Monday.
We will send an update regarding bus route delivery times prior to Monday, September 21st.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended a waiver allowing schools to serve meals at no charge to all children age 18 and under. As of September 2, 2020, through December 31, 2020, when the waiver is set to end or until funding is depleted, White Salmon Valley Schools will be providing meals FREE of charge. Families will be updated prior to any pricing changes.

The district would like to provide an update for our district families concerning the reopening of our schools in the fall. After receiving reopening guidance from the state, the district sent out a family survey last Friday to gather input about reopening schools. Our district Task Force Committee has held several pre-planning meetings and is in the process of organizing workgroups to look at topics of concern and models for reopening our schools.
The district will finalize the list of workgroups on Monday and share that list with our families. If you would like to be part of a workgroup, please email your building principal or myself. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward.
